The finishing touch: 4 small accessories with a big effect

in Apr 17, 2026

At Just the Jacket, we believe that style is in the details. You can wear the most beautiful coat or the most expensive blazer, but it is the small accents that show you have really put thought into your outfit. Have you ever heard of button covers or sleeve holders?

These "secret weapons" of the fashion world transform a simple basic look into a high-end look. In this guide, we show you how to use our favorite accessories to enhance your personal style.

1. Button covers: the upgrade for every blouse

Do you have a beautiful jacket or a nice blouse, but are the buttons a bit boring? Instead of cutting off the buttons, use button covers. These are luxurious caps that you simply snap over your existing buttons. The result? An instant designer look without any sewing.

2. Sleeve holders: practical and chic

Nothing is as annoying as sleeves that constantly slide down when you have casually rolled them up. Our sleeve garters keep your sleeves at exactly the right height, making your silhouette slimmer and your look more dynamic.

3. The comeback of the brooch & pins

Forget the dusty image; brooches are the way to show your personality. Wear a statement brooch on your lapel or group small pins on a denim jacket for a modern, eclectic look.

Frequently Asked Questions about clothing accessories (FAQ)

To help you make the right choice, we have collected the most frequently asked questions about our accessories.

How do button covers work?

Button covers have a hinge mechanism on the back. You flip the cover open, slide it over the button of your blouse or jacket, and snap it shut again. They fit most standard buttons (+/- 11mm).

Why should I use sleeve garters instead of rolling up the sleeves?

Rolling up sleeves can damage or wrinkle the fabric of a nice blazer. Sleeve holders ensure that the sleeve stays nicely "puffed" without straining the fabric, and they do not slip down during the day.

Are brooches harmful to my jacket?

At Just the Jacket, we select pins and brooches with sharp, thin needles to minimize holes in the fabric. For delicate fabrics such as silk, we recommend attaching the brooch to a sturdier part of the garment.

Can I also use button covers on a thick winter coat?

Button covers are ideal for blazers, shirts, and lightweight jackets. For very large, thick buttons on a winter coat, we recommend first measuring the diameter of the button and comparing it to the dimensions in our webshop.
