FAQ

Below are some answers to frequently asked questions. If your question isn't answered there, please contact customerservice@justthejacket.com and we'll help you as soon as possible!

In a nutshell: yes. When you insert a pin or brooch into fabric, you literally make small holes in it. How large or visible those holes are depends on a few things:

- The type of fabric. Thin or fine fabrics (such as silk) can quickly develop visible holes, while thicker fabrics (such as wool or denim) are less prone to this.

- Type of pin/brooch. Thin pins or brooches with sharp pins usually leave small holes. Thick or heavy brooches generally leave larger holes.

- Frequency of use. If you wear a brooch or pin in the same place all the time, the holes may become larger or the fabric may weaken. We therefore recommend that you smooth out the hole after each use and attach it to a different place on the fabric the next time.

- Our magnetic brooches and clip brooches do not make holes in your clothes.

You can try to make the holes in your fabric less noticeable by steaming or ironing them briefly.

Brooches and pins are very versatile textile accessories. You can actually wear them on almost any type of fabric. Most often, brooches and pins are worn on clothing, such as blazers, jackets, sweaters, blouses, or trousers. But they’re also great to wear on a bag or backpack, a hat or beanie, or a scarf. You could even pin them onto household textiles! How fun would it be to roll up a napkin on the table and hold it together with a brooch or pin? And you can also combine multiple brooches and pins together! We did say they’re multifunctional and versatile accessories ;).

Generally, the differences between brooches and pins are as follows:

  • Brooches are usually larger in size and more detailed.
  • Brooches usually have a closure with a straight pin (or a magnet, but this is stated with the product), whereas pins are usually attached with a butterfly clasp or a rubber cap (also the case with Just the Jacket).

We recommend storing your textile jewellery in a clean, dry place. Ideally, keep them in a closed container. Avoid spraying perfume on your textile jewellery, as this can cause discoloration. If you wish to clean them, use a clean, dry, soft cloth.
